2012 Signings

Matamata Swifts is proud to announce a host of new signings ahead of the 2012 Northern Region Football League season.

Three players from the 2011 Waikato Bay of Plenty Federation League champions, Old Blues, have made the trip across the Kaimais. Centre back, Karl Bryant, will bring experience, poise and leadership to the Swifts' defensive efforts. He has been joined by serial goal scorer, Jack McNab, who won the 2011 Federation League golden boot, which followed on from his Federation League division 2 golden boot at previous club, AFC Fury, in 2010. The third member of the ex-Old Blues trio is Andy Cooper, who is a familiar face to Swifts fans. Cooper spent the 2010 NRFL season with the Swifts, playing 15 games and scoring 3 goals, before having his season ended by injury.

We are pleased to welcome home local boy, Scott Parsonage, who played over 100 games in two spells for the club, before spending the last two seasons at Cambridge. Eighteen year old Mackenzie Smith has recently moved up from the deep south, where he played for Southland Spirit and Otago United under-19. Swifts coach, Duncan Lowry, is pleased to welcome Martin Smith to his coaching staff. Martin will provide Duncan with invaluable assistance throughout the course of the season.
