Reserves 3 v Wanderers A 0
The Swifts reserves started the second round of competition with
their biggest win of the season. After the team struggled to score in
the first round it was an Adam Graham hat trick that carried them to victory
on a blustery day at the Domain. The first goal was a speculative overhead
lob which caught the Wanderers goalkeeper unawares.
One - nil up at half time and the Swifts needed the breathing space of
a second goal. This was more conventional, with Graham eluding several
tackles on the edge of the penalty box before angling his shot back past
the keeper. The bonus third goal was nabbed from the six yard box following
a corner.
Scott Hudson, filling in for the day, made his mark in midfield and a
welcome return at left back was made by Phil Ruck, while Joseph Dew again
never stopped running in midfield. The defence was solid all day and the
clean sheet very welcome. Alan Tappin upfront, with one of his best games
of the season and Joel Chamberlain starting to hit top form at right midfield
were the Swifts joint players of the day.
