Claudelands B 2 v Matamata
Reserves 1
Playing the second Claudelands team in their division, the Swifts
could not reproduce the previous weeks win over the A team when they went
down narrowly in yet another close game.
Claudelands opened the scoring after ten minutes but the Swifts equalised
shortly after when Adam Graham pounced on a loose ball in the six yard
box. The home team regained the lead with a shot that took a wicked deflection
and then their keeper made a great save to preserve their lead.
Despite having the majority of the possession and territory in the second
half the Swifts could not pull back the half time deficit. The home team
went into a defensive mode and although the Swifts went close on a number
of occasions another goal was not forthcoming.
Chris Bedford and Joel Chamberlain in the midfield had stand out games,
while Joseph Dew did not stop running up front and versatile Floyd Emson
filled in well at centreback.
