Matamata Reserves 1 v Cambridge 2
It was a case of deja vu as Cambridge scored their second 2-1
win over the Swifts reserves this season.
It was an entertaining game at the Domain between the near neighbours
with the Swifts looking to avenge the earlier narrow loss. Cambridge had
done their homework well from the first game closing down several of the
Swifts attacking options and had the better of the first half as Matamata
started slowly.
The visitors scored the only goal of the first half as their more measured
passing game had the Swifts stretched on a number of occasions.
The Swifts began the second half with more urgency and had the visitors
rattled for a while, and drew level through Adam Graham with a good run
and angled shot.
Cambridge retook the initiative but it was an unlucky hand ball penalty
from which they scored the winner and, despite the Swifts best efforts,
an equaliser was not forthcoming.
The Swifts player of the day was Robert Cox in midfield with another gutsy
performance.
