West Hamilton 2 v Matamata Reserves 5

The Swifts Reserves' marked improvement in second round results continued with another haul of goals when they defeated West Hamilton.

For once they got the ideal start with two early goals to Adam Graham, including a penalty which he earnt and converted. The home side pulled one goal back in a first half which seemed to go on and on.

The reserves increased their lead early in the second half with Graham capitalising on a goalkeeping error from a Scott Hudson cross. The home side narrowed the margin with another goal but the Swifts finished the stronger with Graham turning his markers inside out before helping himself to goal number four.

Scott Hudson completed the scoring with a well taken goal from the edge of the box.

It was another great all round performance from a side which has got better as the season has gone on, showing they are a match for any team in the league. This will be put to the test when they face league leaders Otorohanga away in their last game of the season.

Adam Graham, on a hot streak of 17 goals in his last nine games, was the Swifts player of the day.
