Cambridge 9 v Matamata Swifts Ladies 0
Matamata travelled to Cambridge on Sunday, only to suffer a crumbling
defeat. Cambridge applied the pressure from the beginning leaving Matamata
unsettled and frustrated.
It was 4-0 at halftime, although Matamata tirelessly worked hard to dominate, but
Cambridge came out on top every time. When striker Natalie Gaskell had
possession she was surrounded by an army of red and white shirts with
up to five players marking her at times.
Matamata had many shots at goal but unfortunately none were successful.
Matamata kept battling on, not giving up, but it was heartbreaking to
watch.
The team is strong and will put this game aside. Next week - look out...
The ladies take on Claudelands Rovers in Hamilton, hoping to get back
on form and come away with a victory.
Player of the day went to Rebecca Stevens for her gutsy performance in
defence.
