Wanderers 1 v Matamata Swifts Ladies 0

Matamata were away to Hamilton Wanderers in a match played in good spirits. Unfortunately Wanderers put one past Matamata keeper Jennifer Hull early in the game. It was going to be a hard and physical encounter, so Matamata had to go up a gear.

Natalie Gaskell was suffering from sickness but she still battled hard, although she had to come off and be replaced by Nerida Dodge. Joy Diprose had a good game in the midfield. Wanderers were strong on defence with their goalie putting in some marvellous saves.

It was a tough, hard fought, game. The backline played brilliantly holding Wanderers by the scruff on a number of occasions. Left back Lani Guilford played a no-nonsense game, not giving Wanderers an inch. This earned her Matamata's player of the day.

Natalie was able to return in the last ten minutes and darted through the Wanderers defenders, having a one on with the keeper. After the build up it was saved, leaving the final score 1-0 to Wanderers.

Matamata need to regroup now and prepare themselves for Te Awamutu this coming Sunday at the Matamata Domain.
