Melville 4 v Matamata Swifts Ladies 0
This was a game Matamata was not looking foward to. With Melville
having dropped down from the Northern league to the first division, it
was going to be a real challenge for the visitors.
Melville was the rudest team Matamata has come up against. They were abusive
towards players and supporters. It was hard for the team to focus on the
game. Matamata played out of their skin defending well and frustrating
the opposition no end.
Melville's goals were nothing fancy it was just luck. Half time score
was 4-0 to Melville. And that's how it stayed as Matamata battled hard
to shut them down.
Matamata
were devastated to hear the offensive comments from Melville's coach in
the speeches after the game. Apparently Matamata didn't contribute to
the game!
Player of the day was Natalie Gaskell for her classy performance at sweeper.
