Te Puke 0 ...v... Matamata Swifts 3 >(0-1)

SWIFTS WIN AGAIN

Matamata Swifts have completed their 2010 pre-season programme with another victory over Waikato Bay of Plenty Federation League opposition. Te Puke's Litt Park was a dry, dusty desert of a surface, which was ideal for Matamata because it ensured the match was a contest.

The Swifts settled early and were on the score sheet within minutes. Andy Cooper volleyed home an instictive finish from distance to put the home team on the back foot. Two second half goals ensured victory for Matamata. Mike Beard, who had earlier scored a hat-trick for the reserves, scored with his first touch after coming on at the break. Mike Spencer prodded home the third after good build up work.

Coach Lowry and his squad now turn their thoughts to the start of the NRFL season. A mammoth hurdle faces the team with a trip to play Mangere United, one of the league's more favoured teams.

Swifts Squad: Tom Pamment, Andrew Taylor, Duncan Lowry, Grant Cooper, Willy Mason, Jamie Baxter, Jon Allen, Alberto Romero, Andy Birchenough, Mark Knell, Tim Miller, Andrew Cooper, Michael Beard, Simon Arther, Mike Spencer.
