Travelling to Unicols grounds keen for a game after a week off and pleased to see Caleb Watkin, Dwayne Signal, Jake Watkin and Matias Antunez arrive 15 minutes before kick-off after a college warm-up game. It was also good to see Darren Freeman released from cricket, but it didn't stop Unicol going 2-nil up after 10 minutes.
Matamata went to the break 2-1 behind with a Jamie Cox trade mark goal from a one on one with Unicol's keeper.
After some stern words from Chris Bedford and Mike Collins, Matamata lifted their game and went ahead with two more from Jamie and Big Matt Monteith picked up the scraps left over from a Collins shot that hit the crossbar and came off Jamie's head.
The back four of Andy Monteith, Freeman, Rocky and Dwayne Signal worked in well building a good platform for the young halves to work off.
Jason Adams had a good debut showing abit of pace. After a defensive error Unicol got within one goal until birthday boy Jamie Cox put it beyond doubt with his fourth for player of the day.
Goal scorers: Jamie Cox 4 & Matt Monteith 1. |
