A
game away, which hasn't happened for a while, and when the home team
shows up 20 minutes after the match was supposed to start, I wonder
why we bothered.
The field wasn't really the best around, really it was an unplayable
mud hole which didn't help either side. Our opponents used an advantage
and went a goal ahead early. A scrappy game with no let up from either
side, as both teams knew there wasn't a more important game than this
encounter.
Into second half we were 2-0 down but our lads kept their heads high
and came back with two cracking goals but a flying finish from their
striker gave Matamata its first loss of the league.
Rocky seemed to do the right thing, be in right place at right time
and held our opponents out of the 18 yard box when mattered. Joe and
Bevan combind well all game. I know refs try their hardest but you've
gotta sort of know some rules. The out rule, for instance, and throw
ins, when it happens six times in two minutes.
A deserving player of the day had to be Rocky, super effort.
