It
just goes to show that every game has got to be treated differently
after our opponents got off to a two goal lead within minutes.
The starting line-up shuffled with players running late (work commitment
I hope...) had a few players in lost positions. A re-think and we
were back on track with two goals to go to half time all square
2-2.
Half time managemant talk, no yelling, smiles all round saw Matamata
go into the second half confident. We were all over our opponents,
dominating the game which we should have done from the first whistle.
Some referee decisions were shocking (sorry Libby!!) but the game
must go on and always play to the whistle. Waikato Guji went ahead
after a penalty saw Matamata's surperb keeper Dave make a save but
they followed up well.
Matamata soon replied to tie the game up again and then some long
range attempts paid off seeing Matamata have another brilliant win
and hold top of league.
A few more goals did get scored but disallowed as the ref was not
in a position to see. Fair enough.
Joel had a great game and recieved player of the day. Bevan, arriving
a little late, took field and made a huge difference to the side.
Super striker Joe scored a hat-trick in style and is our leading
goal scorer. Adam and Peter's defending didnt go un-noticed on the
day, keeping sprits high in the team.
Goal scorers: Joe 3, Bevan, Adam, Chris.
