The
Matamata women's soccer team started the second round as they started
the season with a very convincing win, this time away at Waikato
University.
Matamata worked like a well oiled machine and never gave Unicol
a chance to dominate any of the play. Although there was still the
frustrating part of not quite being able to finish off properly
with getting the ball into the back of the net. The half time score
was 3-0 to Matamata.
Wanting to step it up a notch Matamata added even more pressure
on Unicol and the goals came a lot more freely. Sarah Hockley managed
to score a true hat trick and Diane Monthieth returned to the Matamata
score board with her first goal since 1994.
The end of the game finished as it started with Matamata all over
the opposition and also keeping Unicol scoreless. Final score 9-0.
Goal scorers were Sarah Hockley- 3, Nat Gaskell-2, Elena Dimcia-
1, Diane Monteith- 1, Sarah Monteith-1 and own goal. The Matamata
Car Painters player of the day went to Diane Monteith.
