This
Sunday's game was a real wake up call for the Matamata Ladies! Claudelands
were the first team to stand up to Matamata and give them a bit
of competition.
Claudelands scored their 2 goals in the first 10 mins of the game.
One was with a helping nudge from Nat Gaskell's left boot! Nobody
really seemed to fire up for the game and the girls had to really
battle for any possession they could get.
Claudelands shut down the strikers very quickly and did a good job
of it. Matamata managed to claw their way back to level the game
thanks to Nat Gaskell.
The Matamata Car Painters Player of the Day was stand in centre
back, Annah Mason, after being thrown in the deep end with captain
Jenn Wild out injured.
So after this game Matamata is still at the top of the table, three
points clear of Waihi.
Next Sunday is a home game against Melville which has always turned
into a grudge match. The Ladies are looking forward to it!
