The
Swifts reserves had their first draw of the season as they held
off Wanderers in a hard fought game at the Domain on Saturday.
Following on from a close affair in the first round it was always
going to be a game where the odd goal could win it. There was near
perfect conditions for this clash which enabled the first half to
be played at a fair pace with both sides spraying the ball around.
Although both sides got into a number of attacking positions both
keepers were not under too much pressure in the half as the defences
held steady.
The second half saw a few positional changes and the Swifts profited
near the start with Julio Medina getting the cross in for Matt Monteith
to open the scoring.
Swifts player of the day keeper Richard Paradizo had a super game
with some outstanding saves in the half but couldn’t stop the Wanderers
equaliser.
With both sides also hitting the woodwork it was a game that could
have gone either way.
