Future Swifts Stars Shine

Matamata Junior Football’s most outstanding junior male and female players, Logan Raynel and Sophie Nicolas, were awarded the John Tarry and Natalie Gaskell trophies respectively at the recent club prizegiving as a reward for their achievement and commitment. They have both made the Waikato Representative squads again this year, Sophie for the second consecutive year and Logan his third year. This year they represent the under 12’s.

Both players have gone on to make the Waikato Weir Rose Bowl teams. The prestigious Weir Rose Bowl tournament has been played for over 50 years and is the starting point for future representative selections. It involves selected under 12 players (male and female) between United Soccer 1, Auckland Football Federation and Waikato Bay of Plenty Football Federation. This year the tournament will be held at St Kentigern’s College, Pakuranga, Auckland from the September 28 to October 1, 2010.
